FLINTA* is a German abbreviation for women, lesbians, intersex, nonbinary, trans and agender people. It represents an attempt to find an expression for a group of people who are discriminated against and oppressed by the patriarchal structures of our society. The term refers to the diversity and differences among people who suffer from and struggle against patriarchy.

hildashaus opts for the alternative version FINTA*, as the abbreviation is not about sexual orientation, but gender identities.

Not all women menstruate and not all people who menstruate are women. We need to be able to separate menstruation from being something feminine, something only attributed to women.
